Church Elders shall satisfy the qualifications for the office of Elder set forth in I Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:6–9, and therefore shall be above reproach, temperate, prudent, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not addicted to much wine or pugnacious, but gentle, not contentious, free from the love of money, not a new convert, having a good reputation outside the church, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, loving what is good and sensible, just, devout, and self-controlled. An Elder should also be a good manager of his household and if married, the husband of one wife, and, if he has children, they should be faithful and submissive.
